18/9/2010 - The Czech Republic Retriever Club Show
Wow what a super show in the grounds of Oslavany Castle - the most picturesque venue. I was honoured with a record entry of 84 flatcoats to judge. My BOB and Club Winner Bitch and winner from the working class was Compendio All The Best (Flatts Ninas Ragazzi x Compendio Vanta Verona) who was an outstanding bitch, beautifully handled by Andrea Reznickova. The best veteran and Best Veteran in Show was Swallowsflight Ebony Quin (Braemist Galway Lad x Wizardwood Rippling Water) owned by Lenka Topolova. The Best Junior was Honora Chaw Ena Jozucita (Whizzbang's Highway to Hell x Chainy Bonny Dux) owned by Zuzana Kostrbova. My the Club Winning Dog from the Champions Class was Almanza Living Legend (Caci's Black Shadow x Almanza Living Daylight) owned by Anna Zimova. In my opinion the best flatcoat of the day was Griffin Sunrise Bonny Dux (Swallowsflight Coal Entity x Bessy Lenfir) who was in the Honour class, but not competing in the show. Griffin is a fantastic ambassador to the breed - thank you for allowing me to "go over him". The overall quality of the dogs was high and I was pleased to see that with sensible breeding from the imports there are some very impressive Czech bred dogs.
Thank you to my wonderful team of stewards and helpers for making the visit so memorable for Robert and I. Very special thanks to Katerina Vernerova for being my interpreter for the judging on the Saturday and the breed lecture on the Sunday.
